Aerosols are a mixture of a gas and small droplets or solid particles suspended in it. In metalworking they often include hazardous chemicals and metal dust from spraying metalworking fluid at the tool and workpiece. Dynamic forces with high pressure and temperature generate mist, vapour and aerosols.
The mix of contaminants depends on the fluid and the machined material. Common compounds are alkanolamines, VOCs and formaldehyde. Alkanolamines irritate eyes, skin and airways and can affect the central nervous system. VOCs can cause respiratory irritation, headaches and discomfort. Formaldehyde may trigger asthma and skin allergy and is carcinogenic.
AerOff reduces VOC and alkanolamine levels well below occupational limits, confirmed by accredited measurements by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.
